Childline
Many historic vehicle clubs have partnerships with charities and since 2021, the Federation has supported the NSPCC charity ‘Childline®’
Our primary source of funding is through the sale of commemorative plates in connection with our Drive It Day and Ride It Day annual events. These events were founded by the Federation in 2005 when historic vehicle enthusiasts and the public at large have the opportunity to celebrate the One Thousand Mile Trial organised in 1900 to prove the viability of the new invention, the motor vehicle. It’s also a chance to raise awareness and support amongst the public for the historic vehicle movement and keeping transport heritage on UK roads.
In 2023 these events generated donations to Childline® of £50,088!
In the words of Sir Peter Wanless, CEO of the NSPCC, “Childline® is a crucial service on which young people can rely - day or night - whatever problems or dangers they are facing.”
The NSPCC have a recognition programme entitled ‘One Unforgettable Day’ in which they acknowledge the support of organisation’s who raise at least £30,000. The significance being that it costs this amount of money to operate the Childline® service for 24 hours and the historic vehicle community through the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs has been awarded this status on more than one occasion.
